Wednesday Keynote

Chris aviles

Chris Aviles is a teacher at Monmouth Beach middle school in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey where he runs the renowned MB Makes program and Dolphins esports team. He is also the founder of Garden State Esports, New Jersey’s non-profit scholastic esports organization for students, run by teachers.

Chris is passionate about the crossroads where education and technology meet because he has seen the amazing things that can happen when you tech-up teaching. He has won numerous teaching awards and has been featured in places like ABC News, NBC News, PBS, EdWeek, CNET, Scholastic, Times for Kids, EdSurge, Upworthy, and Tech & Learning magazine. MICHELLE PACANSKY-BROCK

Currently, Michelle is Faculty Mentor, Online Teaching and Learning with the California Community Colleges California Virtual Campus-Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI) system. In her role, she coordinates professional development in support of quality online teaching and learning for @ONE (Online Network of Educators) and is leading a California Learning Lab grant project that will examine the impact of humanized online instruction on diverse students in undergraduate online STEM courses in California. Dr. Michelle Pacansky-Brock is a noted leader in higher education with expertise in online teaching, course design, and faculty development. Michelle’s work has helped online instructors across the nation and beyond understand how to craft relevant, humanized online learning experiences that support the diverse needs of college students.  She is the author of Best Practices for Teaching with Emerging Technologies (2nd edition, Routledge) and has received national recognition for her excellence in teaching and faculty development from the Online Learning Consortium (OLC).

Friday Keynote:

bryan alexander

Bryan Alexander is an award-winning internationally known futurist, researcher, writer, speaker, consultant, and teacher, working in the field of higher education’s future. He is currently, a senior scholar at Georgetown University and teaches graduate seminars in their Learning, Design, and Technology program.

Bryan speaks widely and publishes frequently, with articles appearing in venues including The Atlantic Monthly, and Inside Higher Ed. He has been interviewed by and featured in the Washington Post, MSNBC, The Chronicle of Higher education, and countless others.
