Keynote Title: Opportunities and Risks: AI at the Crossroads of Academic Integrity

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more embedded in education, the intersection of academic integrity, ethics, and technology presents both challenges and opportunities. This presentation examines the complex relationship between AI and academic integrity, highlighting the importance of developing institutional guidelines that uphold educational values while leveraging AI’s potential. We will explore how AI can enhance academic work, as well as the risks it poses, such as plagiarism and unauthorized use. By addressing these issues through an intersectional lens, we aim to provide a holistic understanding of how ethics, technology, and education interconnect to shape the future of academic integrity. We will explore practical strategies to proactively navigate AI’s role in academia, ensuring that technological advancements reinforce, rather than compromise, the integrity of learning and scholarship.
